Kannur beach/or town is a safe place to visit, during most of the season....But occasionally,if you are lucky, you might be able to see some strange , angry people with bombs, swords, axes etc in their hands wandering here and there who kill people in broad day light.the timing of such activities are highly unpredictable .otherwise they are very much peace loving and you can see it's evidence in the very frequent peace marches and public meetings!
Meanwhile I would like to invite expert's and public opinion on the underlying cause or psychology of political murders in a well defined geographical area.

I firmly believe that ,they are not political murders or violence.
Reasons

1.The political parties involved in serial clashes are very much active in other parts of the same district or in other district. But you dont see similar situation nowhere else in the state.

2.No political parties/religious oufits present in the affected area are able to keep their members away from these criminal activities. All of them are proud of their crimes and compete to show their physical strength .

.Migration study will be very useful and will enable us to scientifially answer many of our doubts and to find out the reasons for their 'abnormal behaviour'.We can study whether people migrating from these endemic area to other parts of kerala/world continue to exhibit the same behaviour or behaves normally:And whether normal people settling in these area are acquiring these violent nature /involved in violence is worth studying.

I had read articles quoting from discriptions of Old Germen Missionaries who had discribed regular massive horryfying violence with hunting /killings of hundreds of innocent villagers , and burning of houses by violent mobs as a peculiar phenomena in a well demarkated area in north Malabar (which actually correspond to a geographical belt extending from pannur to nadapurum).THey had records of old map with area marked in it.Historically the same area witnessed many many violent incidents as communal violence, violence during festivals , feudal lords sponsered fights of old Chekavars, etc and now it is continuing as "political violence".

Some body pointed that unlike in other places the female members of afflicted area usually encourage the male members to go for fight rather than discouraging/protecting them from the possible physical threats.

Projecting them as mere political violence by media has not helped to abate the violence .I think media and political leaders should not be allowed to misguide people by branding these criminal activites as political violence which actually has nothing to do with politics.

Importance of Correct diagnosis is not limited to clinical medicine alone .
It is more important for the society which wanted to cure a dangerous problem which kills /injure reasonably large number of it's young and very active members.

I wish if you all had posted your observations and suggestions so that we'll know how different peole see the same event that occured in our time, differently.! It will reveal the unreliability of history also!

Medical science is to cure diseases.
In our kannur something kills lot of people who are otherwise normal. Is it a disease?

Should a society invest it's wealth in preventing /protecting it's members from a totally avoidable misfortune? If YES, are we doing it?

I think a real doctor/person will be concerned about life and there wont be any discrimination based on the cause of death or infirmity.

Devadas has made excellent comments on the political violence in Kannur. Kannur, as we know is the land of Vadakkan Pattu - songs decribing war or duel victories. These songs glorify armed attacks - though they emphasis the direct and face to face fights. But in the political violence we see attacks from behind the back, usually this type of attacks are seen with hired killers. this shows that many of the so called political violences are acts of cowardice. Anothe issue we should note is that both killers and victims are relatives or neighbours. May be many of these are family feuds or kilings for other reasons. The political angle is used to execute the act. Political parties have squads ready to do such job.
